As of the week of 27 September 2026, the United States equity market had experienced a significant increase in volatility as a result of the escalation of geo-conflicts, continued high rates of return on United States debt, and the multi-factors of industrial dynamics, with a marked divergence of futures, stock forwards and bulk commodity futures, and market-based games entering the hot phase.
According to various media reports, the government of Trump rejected Iran ' s proposal for safety of navigation in the Straits of Hormuz that week, with a rapid rise in geo-risk premiums, a marked rise in international crude oil futures prices, a direct push to increase the valuation of energy panels, and a crackdown on risky asset preferences, with the United States share pointing back several times in future pallets. At the same time, the United States Treasury debt market has continued to deepen, with data showing that the 30-year United States debt return week has touched upon the new high since 2004, that the 10-year United States debt return has remained high, and that the rapid upswing in bond yields has directly impacted the pricing logic of the high-value valuation technology unit, which is another central factor in suppressing equity. There is a marked high volatility in the weekly pattern: the mid-week Jones Index futures and the PIN 500 futures have all experienced varying degrees of decline, meaning that they are once more under pressure to record a weekly fall of four consecutive weeks; and Friday, driven by the AI block purchase plate, the super-intensity of the retailing giant Costco's financial report, whose post-roll price increases have led to an emotional upturn in the consumer plate, with the one-day increase of more than 470 points and a final harvest throughout the week, but the overall volatility has increased significantly over the previous week. In addition, the news of OpenAI suspending AI model training has been digested by the market, making it an important variable for the fluctuations of the technology plate on that day, and Microsoft and others, such as AI, have experienced a marked rebound during the week leading to a relatively large futures race.
On 30 June 2026, the Chicago Commodity Exchange (CME Group) officially announced the reopening of a single stock futures transaction, the first of which was officially launched on 27 July 2026, the first major expansion of a United States stock futures market since the 2000s, providing a whole new hedge and trading tool for United States equity investors. According to the contract rules published by CME, the first-on-line stock futures cover 500 billboards, more than 50 head American shares in the NASDAQ 100 index, including apples, Tesla, Inverda, Microsoft, Meta, Amazon, Morgan Chase, Goldman Sachs, and even space exploration company SpaceX, which only officially IPO on June 12, 2026. I don't know. Its futures contracts were traded online in the Pre-IPO phase prior to IPO, which was then automatically converted to the corresponding stock futures. The contracts are divided into standard contracts and micro-contracts: the standard contracts correspond to 100 shares each, the micro-contracts correspond to 10 shares each, and are settled in cash at the official price of the targeted shares, which does not involve the delivery of physical shares, thus depriving investors of the dividends and voting rights of the corresponding shares. The trading time is from 6 p.m. to 5 p.m. on the day-to-day hours of the CME Globex platform, where the market is maintained only one hour a day, close to 23 hours of continuous trading, breaking the limit of the traditional United States share, which can be traded only during regular trading periods, with the contract expiry date being the third Friday in the months of 3, 6, 9 and December. With regard to the requirement of a bond, the statutory minimum guarantee rate is 15 per cent, corresponding to a maximum of about six times leverage. The industry research data show that, from July to August 2026, the average daily stock turnover of the five major centralized global exchanges reached $17.6 billion, of which the standardized futures liquidity of the CME has continued to increase and has become an important tool for institutional investors in managing individual stock risks. In addition to the standardized CME products, the encrypted currency exchange MEXC had, as of September 2026, been connected to more than 400 shares and ETF futures, covering large holdings in the United States, Asian memory, leverage ETFs, etc., while the encrypted currency trading platform OG.com Markets had applied to the United States Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTCs) for the introduction of cash settlement for one stock term, which would further enrich the supply of derivatives markets.
For US equity individuals and institutional investors, priority attention needs to be given in the short term to the dual effects of geo-conflicts and the return on US debt: while oil prices are expected to improve in the short term because of geo-risks, short-term performance is expected to rise, while the cost pressures of large oil users, such as aviation, chemical, and so forth, will rise significantly; and the technology sector will be influenced by the dynamics of the AI industry and interest rates, which may be more volatile than other segments. The roll-out of a stock future provides investors with a new hedge tool: stockholders can hedge short-term down risk by making an empty matching stock futures, or leverage can be used to trade short-term, but attention needs to be paid to the leverage risk associated with a 15 per cent bond ratio, which may be forced to level off if the subject is too volatile. For derivative traders, the 23-hour trading period for CME stock futures means that overnight fluctuations can be hedged or speculated on behind the front of the United States stock, provided that the boundaries of rights under the cash settlement rules are clear and dividends and voting rights are not available. For ordinary consumers, the rise in oil prices will directly raise the cost of petrol, travel and, if geo-conflicts continue to escalate, inflationary pressures may rebound or affect the monetary policy path of the Fed, thereby affecting the overall stock market.
Investors will then need to focus on three main variables: a follow-up to the situation in Iran and whether there are new variables regarding the security of passage in the Strait of Hormuz, which will directly determine the movement of oil prices and the preference for risky assets; the release of inflation and employment data in the United States in September, with the expected further warming of the Federal Reserve's interest rate if the data are more robust than expected, the likely rise in the rate of return on United States debt and the continued suppression of stock market valuations; and changes in the trading activity of CME stock futures, as well as progress in the approval of the CFTC for stock renewals, and if renewals are approved, the liquidity of the derivatives market will be further enhanced to provide investors with additional trading tools. In addition, the performance of futures trading for new economic targets, such as SpaceX, will also serve as a windmark for the acceptance of a stock futures market. (approximately 2100 words in full)
