Google's next Fitbit band has been laid bare. Android Headlines obtained retail marketing material and published renders of a device called the Fitbit Edge: a band with a small oval color touchscreen that slots between the screenless Fitbit Air and the Pixel Watch 5, filling the middle tier of Google's wearable lineup. Google has not confirmed anything — all of this is still leak territory.
The Edge looks every bit a Charge: its oval color screen is fuller and rounder than the Charge 6's, with a slim elongated button on each side of the case and a pinch-release mechanism for swapping straps. Leaked images show black, green and orange variants, matching the Obsidian, Olive and Canyon finishes of the Pixel 11 Pro. The sensor array on the back looks closer to the Fitbit Air than the Pixel Watch 5, and metal strips running along the case could be ECG contacts — though that remains unconfirmed. Amusingly, this band already made a cameo: it hid in Google's own Pixel 11 advertising back in August, when nobody could identify it.
On specs, the Edge is tipped to pack built-in GPS (route tracking without a phone), an altimeter for counting floors climbed and adding elevation data to walks, runs and hikes — a sensor missing from both the Charge 6 and the Air — plus automatic activity recognition so a workout still gets logged if you forget to start tracking. Battery life is listed at up to seven days, matching the Air and Charge 6. It will display phone notifications and support a small set of apps: Google Maps, YouTube Music and other media controls, and Find My Phone. Connectivity is Bluetooth only, with no Wi-Fi — and the leaked material makes no mention of Wear OS.
The positioning is the interesting part. The Fitbit Air is built around passive, distraction-free tracking with no screen at all, while the Pixel Watch 5 is a full Wear OS smartwatch (Android-only, 30 to 40 hours of battery). The Edge takes the middle: a screen, notifications and GPS, while keeping week-long battery life and supporting both Android and iOS. For people who just want to train without charging every night, that is exactly the old Charge slot — Google has not released a traditional band since the Charge 6 in 2023, and the Edge looks like its spiritual successor.
Launch timing is still guesswork, but multiple reports point to October 2026, in time for the holiday shopping season. Pricing is equally an estimate: somewhere between $149 and $199, neatly between the $99.99 Fitbit Air and the $400 Pixel Watch 5 (the Charge 6 sold for $129 to $179). If true, that fills the gap precisely. Now it is up to Google to announce it — and to confirm whether those ECG contacts are real.
