Galaxy S27 Ultra Renders and a Fan Trailer Show Samsung's Next Big Swing
A set of concept renders and a mock trailer for the Galaxy S27 Ultra appeared online in mid-October. PhoneArena, which covered them on October 15, credits concept designer 4RMD. TecnoAndroid stressed that the images are not Samsung material but reconstructions built from leaked design documents.
PhoneArena notes the video is styled much like the teasers Samsung itself runs before a launch and suggests something similar can be expected next year. The same report cautions that some colourways shown will probably not make the final list, and that details are not set in stone.
The headline change sits on the back: the vertical lens column Samsung has used for years gives way to a single wide, raised camera plateau. Gizbot and Mashable, citing CAD renders reported by Android Headlines, say the layout is Ultra-only, while the S27, S27+ and the new S27 Pro keep the familiar vertical arrangement. Dimensions land around 163.76 x 78.25 x 7.97mm, a hair larger than the S26 Ultra, with the S Pen reportedly staying.
Android Authority reports that renders published by leaker OnLeaks show a telephoto lens at the top of the pill-shaped opening, followed by a microphone cutout and auxiliary sensors, with the LED flash at the bottom. Particle.news points out that the newest third-party case renders leave no opening for laser autofocus, so it is unclear whether Samsung hides it under glass or moves it elsewhere. Notebookcheck adds that a second case places the third camera above the flash rather than below, meaning earlier renders could still change.
Every report shares one caveat: Samsung has announced nothing. Gizbot states plainly that the company hasn't announced anything yet, and PhoneArena warns that final details are not locked. Design, colours and specifications all remain in rumor territory.
The timing is not accidental. Forbes and Yahoo Tech note that the S27 Pro and S27 Ultra have appeared in China's 3C certification, alongside a separate BIS filing in India, and that 3C listings typically surface three to six months before a device reaches market. Mashable, citing a Korean ZDNet report, says Samsung has already begun producing components for the lineup.
Gizchina, citing certification data, says the S27 Ultra (model SM-S958) carries a rated 5,534mAh cell rounded to a 5,700mAh typical capacity, described as the biggest leap forward in battery since 2021, with 60W wired and 25W wireless charging. The rear array drops from four cameras to three: a 200MP ISOCELL HP6 main sensor, a 50MP ultrawide and a 50MP 5x periscope telephoto, while the front camera rises from 12MP to 16MP.
Android Authority and Gagadget both report that Samsung may drop the dedicated 3x telephoto, leaving the phone to jump from 1x straight to 5x and lean on sensor cropping. Separate leaks claim warmer colour handling, better highlight control and cleaner shadows.
Leaked tiers relayed by Android Central, Mashable and PhoneArena put US starting prices at $899, $1,099, $1,299 and $1,399 across the S27 lineup, with the Ultra $100 above the S26 Ultra's $1,299 and international pricing possibly reaching $1,499 or more. Mymobiles attributes the increase to chip and memory costs rather than a deliberate Samsung decision.
For buyers holding out for an upgrade, the Ultra shapes up as a redesigned back, a bigger battery, one fewer telephoto lens and a higher price. For accessory makers, a horizontal plateau means cases and magnetic accessories must be reworked — one case vendor already advertises roughly 2,400gf of magnetic attraction. For Samsung, the redesign is a bid for visual identity against the iPhone 17 Pro and Chinese flagships.
Mashable and Gizbot both expect a Galaxy Unpacked in January or February 2027; the S26 series was unveiled on February 25, 2026. A countdown page lists Unpacked for February 24, 2027 and an on-sale date around March 10, 2027, while noting Samsung has confirmed neither. Leaks converge on a 2nm Snapdragon 8 Elite Extreme Gen 6, Android 17 with One UI 9, a 6.9-inch 2K M16 120Hz LTPO panel, 1.28mm bezels and a 4.69mm camera bump (about 12.53mm including the protrusion).
