Mopar is turning 90, and its gift to itself is a limited-edition dress-up kit for the Dodge Charger. Called the Mopar '27, the package will be fitted to just 270 two-door 2027 Chargers, split evenly at 90 cars each in Bludicrous, Diamond Black and White Knuckle, a direct nod to nine decades of the brand. Of the total, 243 cars stay in the United States and 27 go to Canada. It is available only on the SIXPACK-powered Charger R/T and Charger Scat Pack Plus coupes, and it costs $10,995 on top of the car itself.
Per Autoblog's breakdown of the official kit list, buyers get a Direct Connection carbon-fiber front splitter, a carbon-fiber hood with a functional scoop, a cold-air intake system, a carbon-fiber rear spoiler, unique bodyside and hood graphics, a serialized Mopar '27 and 90th-anniversary under-hood plaque mounted on the radiator closeout panel, and a special dashboard badge. The show car heading to SEMA also wears factory-authorized extras including performance springs, a free-flowing cat-back exhaust and 21-by-11-inch wheels. Mopar's official line, carried by PR Newswire, frames it as a drop combining "unique styling, carbon-fiber details and functional performance enhancements."
The engines are untouched. The R/T's 3.0-liter Hurricane twin-turbo inline-six stays at 420 horsepower, and the Scat Pack Plus stays at 550 horsepower, with standard all-wheel drive and an on-demand rear-drive mode on both. TopSpeed cites 4.6 seconds to 60 mph and a 12.9-second quarter-mile for the R/T, improving to 3.9 seconds and 12.2 seconds for the Scat Pack Plus. As Car and Driver notes, Mopar fans hollering for a V8 special edition will have to keep waiting; this anniversary car celebrates heritage without adding cylinders.
Mopar, a portmanteau of "MOtor PARts" coined in 1937, rarely lets an anniversary pass without a limited run, as Hagerty points out. The Charger joins a factory-built lineage stretching back to the Mopar '10 Challenger, with past editions spanning the Charger, Challenger, 300, Dart, Durango, Ram and Gladiator. Picking the Charger makes commercial sense too: the nameplate just completed its pivot to the six-cylinder SIXPACK era, and a numbered anniversary edition gives dealers a halo story to tell while orders for the mainstream car ramp up.
The Mopar '27 debuts at the Mopar NHRA Las Vegas Nationals from October 30 to November 1 at Las Vegas Motor Speedway, then takes center stage at the SEMA Show from November 3 to 6 at booth 59119 in the West Hall of the Las Vegas Convention Center, according to Autoweek. Dealer orders open in early January 2027, with production scheduled for the spring. For collectors, the serialized plaque and the 90-cars-per-color arithmetic are the pitch; for everyone else, it is a styling-and-hardware bundle that turns an ordinary six-cylinder Charger into one of 270.
