Motorola Signature 27 Leak Reveals a 12,000-Nit Tandem OLED Screen and a 200MP Periscope Camera
Motorola's upcoming flagship, the Signature 27, is set for a full reveal on November 5, but YouTuber Danny Winget has already published an exclusive hands-on video made in collaboration with Motorola. The video shows finished retail hardware in two textured finishes and confirms nearly the entire spec sheet of the company's return to the ultra-premium tier.
The phone carries a 6.8-inch panel marketed as "Extreme AMOLED Duo" with a 120Hz LTPO refresh rate and Dolby Vision. Underneath sits Tandem OLED technology, which stacks multiple light-emitting diode layers to boost contrast and brightness. Motorola claims a peak brightness of 12,000 nits, a figure that would make it one of the brightest phone displays ever announced and easily readable in direct sunlight.
Tandem OLED is not new. The same stacked-layer approach is already used in Apple's new PROLED MacBook Pro and the 2024 Honor Magic 6 RSR. Motorola's move brings the technology to a mainstream flagship phone, paired with curved cover glass wrapping around the display edges.
Inside is Qualcomm's Snapdragon 8 Elite Extreme Gen 6 built on a 2-nanometer process, paired with 16GB of LPDDR5X RAM and up to 1TB of UFS 4.1 storage. To keep the chip cool, Motorola fitted a vapor chamber 40 percent larger than the previous generation, using liquid metal and copper mesh. The body combines aluminum and ceramic, offered in Pantone Coal Smoke with a "Tactical Weave" texture and Capulet Olive with a textile finish.
The camera system is the most aggressive part of the leak. The main camera is a 50MP Sony LYT-910 sensor with LOFIC HDR and 8K video recording, joined by a 200MP periscope telephoto camera with up to 100x zoom and a 50MP ultrawide. A dedicated action sensor is included specifically to improve motion capture. Stereo speakers are tuned by Bang & Olufsen, and a dedicated AI key sits on the frame.
The phone launches with Android 17 and a promise of seven years of OS updates. Winget described the battery only as "sizable" without giving a capacity, and the vapor chamber is 40 percent larger than the previous generation. With pricing and availability still to be announced on November 5, the open question is whether this spec-loaded flagship can steal share from Samsung and Apple at the top of the market.
