NVIDIA's Preset C Targets 35% Faster DLSS Frame Generation
NVIDIA released a beta build of a faster Frame Generation "Performance Mode" on October 13, 2026, delivered through the NVIDIA App. The mode is labeled Preset C inside the app's DLSS Override menu and applies to standard DLSS Frame Generation, Multi Frame Generation and Dynamic Multi Frame Generation. TechPowerUp, VideoCardz, Overclock3D, Wccftech and The Verge all carried the story within hours of NVIDIA's own post, and the company's stated ceiling is up to 35% faster frame generation on a GeForce RTX 5060.
The official wording is deliberately careful: the new algorithm buys higher frame rates "with minor trade-offs in image quality." Wccftech built that caveat into its headline, and Overclock3D repeated the qualifier. The feature is flagged as beta or experimental inside the app, and no independent third-party verification of the headline number has been published so far — every figure in circulation traces back to NVIDIA's own demonstration.
NVIDIA says Frame Generation normally leans on two AI models. The first reads game data — motion vectors and depth — to work out how objects moved between two rendered images. The second computes optical flow for elements such as user interface overlays and ray-traced effects. Preset C replaces that second model with a faster, lighter algorithm, cutting the processing overhead attached to each generated frame. In the example NVIDIA provided and Overclock3D relayed, an RTX 5060 running 6X frame generation went from a 42.5 FPS baseline to 58 FPS, with the post-generation figure climbing from 255 FPS to 348 FPS.
The mode works on GeForce RTX 40 Series cards, GeForce RTX 50 Series cards and RTX Spark laptops. VideoCardz noted that Preset C is not exclusive to DLSS 5 or to RTX 50 owners, which widens the audience considerably. TechPowerUp and Overclock3D both published the activation path: install the beta update from the NVIDIA App, open Graphics, scroll to Driver Settings, choose DLSS Override - Model Presets, set it to Custom, pick Preset C in the Frame Generation dropdown and hit Apply. A Global Settings variant applies the change across every supported title in the library.
NVIDIA also quietly listed the RTX PRO 5500 Blackwell workstation GPU on September 14, 2026. TweakTown, Tom's Hardware, HotHardware, Notebookcheck and TechRadar reported that the card carries 84 GB of ECC GDDR7 memory on a 416-bit bus for roughly 1,398 GB/s of bandwidth, plus 21,760 CUDA cores — the same count as the GeForce RTX 5090 — a 600 W power limit and MIG support that splits the card into one 84 GB instance or two 42 GB instances. It slots between the RTX PRO 5000 (48 GB standard, with a 72 GB variant) and the RTX PRO 6000 (96 GB), with 2.6 times the memory of an RTX 5090.
VideoCardz reported that NVIDIA confirmed Preset C will arrive in the RTX Remix update scheduled for October 23, alongside the faster DLSS 5 neural rendering model. The refreshed DLSS 5 model itself debuts in NBA 2K27 on October 16 on RTX 50 Series cards, RTX Spark laptops and GeForce NOW, where NVIDIA claims up to a 1.4X frame-rate lift, and it will ship by default with future DLSS 5 games. For now the practical step is simple: open the app beta, flip on Preset C, and judge the image quality for yourself.
